HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Michelle Henry announced this week that her office has filed a lawsuit against New Jersey-based business Segtaf Automobile, LLC, and its owner, Taofeek Oyekangun. The lawsuit alleges unlicensed sales of used automobiles in Pennsylvania and deceptive practices that have misled consumers.

The legal action claims that Oyekangun sold unroadworthy vehicles to Pennsylvania consumers and made conflicting statements regarding the “as is” condition of some of these vehicles. These actions are said to be in violation of the Pennsylvania Auto Regulations and the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.

“This is every used car buyer’s worst fear – paying hard-earned money and realizing soon after that the vehicle is in poor condition,” said Attorney General Henry. “My office has a duty to uphold state law and regulations that prohibit deceptive car dealers from swindling consumers in this fashion, and we will do everything in our power to uphold that duty. Consumers deserve nothing less.”

The complaint asserts that Oyekangun employed multiple aliases and unregistered fictitious names when conducting business. According to the lawsuit, Segtaf Automobile has also operated under the names “Mimi’s Used Cars & Foreign Cars,” “Segtaf Auto Sales,” and “Segtaf Segtaf.” Oyekangun is also accused of using various aliases such as “Seun Wosho,” “Ayomilekan Ogike,” “Scott Weber,” and “Ayinke Ogunsola.”

The Attorney General’s office is urging any consumers who believe they may have been victims of these practices to file a complaint with the Bureau of Consumer Protection. They can do so by calling 800-441-2555 or emailing scams@attorneygeneral.gov.
