This settlement pertains to unlawful rent-to-own arrangements facilitated by Vision Property Management and its subsidiaries between 2011 and 2019.

The Attorney General’s Office urges consumers who were involved in a “rent to own” or “agreement for deed” with Vision Property Management during the specified period, yet have not been granted property deeds nor received communication from the office, to reach out promptly. These individuals may be entitled to financial restitution under the terms of the settlement. Eligible consumers should contact the Attorney General’s Office at 1-800-441-2555 or visit www.attorneygeneral.gov to initiate the claims process.

This appeal for consumer action arises from a settlement achieved through consent decrees with Vision Property Management and Archway Community Properties. The decrees are the culmination of legal proceedings initiated in 2019, addressing violations related to these rent-to-own schemes. The restitution fund, resulting from these consent decrees, is designated for individuals meeting specific eligibility criteria set by the settlement.

The Office of Attorney General has set a deadline of November 15 to finalize the list of consumers eligible for restitution. This timeline underscores the urgency for affected individuals to verify their eligibility and submit claims.

In a separate outcome from this legal action, the Office of Attorney General successfully secured property deeds for approximately 250 consumers engaged in rent-to-own contracts with Vision Property Management. This relief was achieved through an order from the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. It is important to note that the current restitution funds are exclusively for those who have not yet received property deeds under these contracts.
