PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry and Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding have issued a warning to businesses about a scam involving the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center. Fraudsters are soliciting booth reservations and payments for a non-existent event, dubbed the “Winter Farm Expo,” scheduled for January 6-7, 2024.
“Scammers are creative in their endeavors to prey on people to make a profit,” said Attorney General Henry. “It is frustrating to see a scam like this surface and potentially tarnish a longstanding attraction event like the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Do not allow yourselves to be fooled: do your research before signing paperwork or sending payment.”
There is no such event scheduled at the Farm Show Complex on those dates. The fraudulent solicitations request payments to reserve vendor space, which could lead unsuspecting businesses to lose money.
In response to the scam, state officials are urging consumers who believe they may have fallen victim to this scam to file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection. Complaints can be submitted online via the official website or by calling the office at 1-800-441-2555.
For those interested in participating in legitimate events at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, information on becoming a commercial exhibitor at the 2024 Pennsylvania Farm Show, to be held January 6-13, 2024, can be found on the official Farm Show website.
