ATGLEN, PA — The 2023 Octorara Area School District elections have concluded in an election that has stirred some controversy among the local community in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
In the race for School Director Octorara Region 1, where voters were asked to select three candidates, incumbents Lisa Yelovich and Brian K. Norris, both Democrats, secured 19.27% (494 votes) and 20.21% (518 votes) respectively. Karen A. Williamson, running on both the Democratic and Republican tickets, received 20.02% (513 votes).
However, the top vote-getter in this race was Republican incumbent Anthony Falgiatore, who garnered 20.56% (527 votes) of the total votes. The Octorara Region 2 saw a clear win for Republican candidate Joelyn Metzler in the School Director race. Metzler secured a commanding 63.04% (348 votes) of the total, defeating her Democratic opponent, Ian Brendle, who received 36.96% (204 votes). No write-in votes were reported in this race, and the total number of votes cast was 552.
The Octorara Region 3 School Director race proved to be one of the most contentious, with incumbent Democrat Brian P. Fox losing his position to Republican Jacob Lusby Jr. Lusby won the seat with 52.38% (901 votes) of the total, while Fox received 47.44% (816 votes).
