USDA Announces Senior Staff Appointments, Highlights Focus on Natural Resource Conservation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a series of senior staff appointments under the Trump Administration, emphasizing experienced leadership to advance the department’s priorities, including forest management and natural resource conservation.

Kailee Tkacz Buller has been named Chief of Staff for the USDA, bringing significant experience from her time as President and CEO of the National Oilseed Processors Association. She also held leadership roles during the first Trump Administration, overseeing key agriculture initiatives. Preston Parry will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff, having previously worked within the White House Domestic Policy Council and holding a background in political science.

Jennifer Tiller will take on dual roles as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary and Senior Advisor for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services. Her extensive legislative experience includes her service as Deputy Staff Director for the House Agriculture Committee. Ralph Linden, with decades of service in the USDA Office of the General Counsel, will assume the position of Principal Deputy General Counsel. Additionally, Audra Weeks and Dominic Restuccia will step into senior communications and liaison roles, respectively.

Among the department’s newly announced natural resource-focused positions, Kristin Sleeper has been named Deputy Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment. Sleeper’s contributions to legislative environmental policy have been notable in her roles with congressional agriculture and energy committees. Tom Schultz will join USDA as Chief of Staff for Natural Resources and Environment, leveraging his expertise in forest management and leadership roles in Idaho and Montana natural resource departments.

These appointments highlight USDA’s effort to safeguard natural resources and advance sustainable practices, aligning with the Trump Administration’s goals of enhancing forest health, managing wildfire risks, and ensuring responsible stewardship of America’s agricultural and environmental assets.
