WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pennsylvania) has announced the appointment of three leaders to head regional commissions tasked with recommending candidates for U.S. Attorney and U.S. Marshal positions across Pennsylvania. The appointees will oversee the vetting and selection processes for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts, ensuring the nominations align with the highest standards of capability and service.
“Pennsylvanians deserve to have strong U.S. Attorneys and Marshals working for them to uphold the rule of law, prosecute criminals, and keep our communities safe,” McCormick stated. “Andy, David, and Lori are respected leaders with impressive backgrounds. I’m confident that, under their leadership, these commissions will help guide me in choosing exceptional candidates who are prepared to serve and protect all Pennsylvanians.”
The regional commissions will comprise eight to ten members each and will begin organizing immediately to start evaluating applicants. Aiming to deliver their recommendations within the coming months, the commissions will work under the direction of the following chairs:
- Eastern District Chair – Andy Reilly
Andrew J. Reilly, a shareholder of Pennsylvania law firm Saxton & Stump, brings decades of experience in municipal law and litigation. He has a distinguished record of community involvement in Delaware County and has served on panels including the Federal magistrate selection process and the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board. Reilly’s expertise and local ties make him a notable choice for leading this district’s efforts. - Middle District Chair – David Freed
David J. Freed’s extensive public service background includes roles as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and District Attorney for Cumberland County, where he served for over a decade. Freed also brings experience from his tenure as Chief Compliance and Risk Officer at West Shore Home, LLC. His broad legal expertise ensures a thorough and skilled approach to candidate evaluations. - Western District Chair – Lori Hardiman
Lori Hardiman, Vice President and General Counsel for The First City Company, has cultivated a career spanning corporate law, property financing, and tax administration. Her prior role with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and her dual law and MBA degrees from Georgetown University underscore her qualifications as an effective leader for this commission.
Applications for these critical positions are open to qualified Pennsylvanians, with a submission deadline of March 28, 2025. The commissions will focus on identifying individuals committed to strengthening public safety, upholding legal standards, and advancing justice throughout the state.
Looking ahead, the commissions seek to establish a transparent and merit-based process aimed at recommending candidates who will meet Pennsylvania’s law enforcement and prosecutorial needs. These appointments signal a decisive step toward ensuring the state’s justice system is led by capable and principled professionals.
