WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a recent announcement, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) disclosed that Reser’s Fine Foods has initiated a voluntary recall of certain meal kits. This action stems from concerns over potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, traced back to a recalled chicken ingredient supplied by BrucePac.
Listeria monocytogenes is a pathogen known to pose serious health risks, particularly to young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems. While healthy adults may only experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, and gastrointestinal discomfort, the infection is notably dangerous for pregnant women, as it can lead to miscarriages or stillbirths.
The recalled meal kits were distributed across a wide swath of the United States, impacting consumers in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
In response to the contamination alert, Reser’s Fine Foods has ceased using ingredients from the implicated BrucePac facility. Consumers who have purchased the affected meal kits are urged not to consume them. Instead, they are advised to return the products to their point of purchase for a full refund or to dispose of them safely.
For any questions or concerns related to this recall, consumers can reach out to Reser’s Fine Foods via their dedicated inquiry line at 888-223-2127, available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
