WASHINGTON, D.C. — NextGen America is marking Earth Day with its Green Week campaign, a series of educational and advocacy events aimed at mobilizing young people to address the climate crisis. The initiative combines online and in-person activities, focusing on raising awareness and pushing for climate action.
The campaign’s online action hub is central to Green Week, offering resources for participants to learn about climate policies, support climate legislation, and engage in advocacy. Highlights include a digital organizing workshop, an educational session on the climate policies of the Trump Administration, and a podcast discussion on environmental issues.
“NextGen is proud to celebrate Earth Day and support young people in taking action to protect our planet and our futures,” the organization stated. “We are experiencing an unrelenting attack on our climate, and in order to protect our freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water, we all need to step up, organize, and use our voice.”
Field organizers are conducting climate-focused outreach at universities, including Virginia Tech, the University of Virginia, and Virginia State University, collecting surveys from students to identify their top concerns for the coming year. Additionally, NextGen is co-sponsoring a national climate call on April 24 with partners such as the Climate Action Campaign and Sunrise Movement to spotlight the impacts of past climate policies.
Green Week aligns with NextGen America’s broader efforts to mobilize young voters in preparation for 2025, blending grassroots organizing with digital initiatives to inspire action on critical issues like climate change.
