WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall by Unilever in the United States for approximately 137,000 cases of Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pops due to the presence of undeclared milk. This recall is crucial for individuals with milk allergies, as consuming these products could lead to severe or life-threatening allergic reactions.
The recall specifically targets Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pop single-serve products, commonly sold through ice cream trucks, concession stands, and grab-and-go freezers nationwide. Notably, this recall does not extend to the 18-count multi-pack versions available in grocery stores and other retail outlets.
The affected product is the Popsicle Jolly Rancher Green Apple Blue Raspberry Grape Frozen Confection Pop. The lot codes include MAY1725KY4, MAY1825KY4, MAY1925KY4, JAN3026KY4, JAN3126KY4, FEB0126KY4, MAR1226KY4, MAR1326KY4, MAR1426KY4, MAR1526KY4, and MAR1626KY4. Each recalled unit measures 2.71 fl oz and carries the GTN/UCC code 10077567003727, with a Consumer Unit UPC of 077567003720.
These products were distributed nationwide to wholesale distributors and various operators between February 1, 2024, and August 15, 2024. Consumers can locate the lot codes and UPC on the outer wrapper of each product.
The recall was initiated following the discovery of milk allergens in the product, which were not disclosed on the packaging. This oversight has already led to two reported allergic reactions. While no other Unilever or Popsicle products are affected by this recall, the potential health risk mandates urgent action.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should visit www.PopsicleRecall.com for further instructions. Unilever’s consumer services representatives are available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, at (888) 926-3554, to assist with reimbursement upon proof of purchase.
