WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced a significant $350,000 prize awarded to the Delaware Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to spearhead the development of a national Cyber Certification Program. This initiative aims to fortify small business cybersecurity through comprehensive training and resources.
Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman emphasized the importance of this initiative amid escalating cyber threats. “The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to strengthening our nation’s economic resilience by equipping small businesses with the tools they need to strengthen their cyber preparedness and resilience,” she stated. The program, which will be delivered through a mix of webinars, workshops, and assessments, intends to track key performance indicators over a two-year period.
Hosted by the University of Delaware, the Delaware SBDC has been a leader in providing cybersecurity resources. The prize enables the SBDC to expand its efforts and establish a robust certification program for SBA resource partners, enhancing their ability to deliver effective cyber strategies to small businesses nationwide.
Delaware SBDC Director Mike Bowman expressed enthusiasm for the recognition and opportunity to extend their cybersecurity program. “It is an honor to be recognized for our national cybersecurity program and asked to continue it on behalf of the SBA,” Bowman remarked.
The Delaware SBDC was chosen for its expertise in curriculum development, delivery, and program management, cementing its role as a pivotal player in national cybersecurity education for small businesses.
