WASHINGTON, D.C. — The 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee has published its Scientific Report, providing recommendations and analysis that will guide the development of the upcoming Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030. The report, now available on DietaryGuidelines.gov, reflects independent, evidence-based findings intended to inform federal nutrition policies and programs.

One of the key features of the Committee’s work is its focus on health equity, aiming to address the influence of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, and culture on dietary patterns and nutrition access. By broadening its scope, the Committee also evaluated strategies for promoting sustainable, healthy diets across all life stages, marking a significant step in improving both public outreach and dietary inclusivity.

The report is part of a multi-year process involving public input, transparency, and scientific rigor. The Committee reviewed nearly 10,000 public comments—a record number for this initiative—and adjusted its recommendations accordingly. Public engagement has been further encouraged through online access to all public meetings and invitations for written and oral commentary throughout the deliberative period.

“This report will help ensure that the next Dietary Guidelines reflect up-to-date scientific evidence while addressing the diverse needs of all Americans,” emphasized HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the role these guidelines play in creating access to nutritious and affordable food for families nationwide.

The federal government will now enter the next phase of the process, with HHS and USDA opening a 60-day public comment period and convening a public meeting on January 16, 2025, to collect additional input on the released findings. The finalized Dietary Guidelines, set to publish later in 2025, will serve as the foundational resource for combating diet-related chronic diseases and supporting overall public health, while reinforcing equity in dietary standards.
