Manhunt Over: Pennsylvania Attorney General Hails Heroic Law Enforcement Efforts

Office of the Attorney General

PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Attorney General, Michelle Henry, has praised law enforcement partners for their patience, professionalism, and persistence in capturing escaped convicted killer, Danelo Cavalcante.

The Office of the Attorney General has been involved in assisting some of the Commonwealth’s finest agents and officials in the search efforts. The extensive manhunt ended with Cavalcante’s capture, without any physical harm to residents or the officers involved.

Attorney General Henry stated, “This was an exhaustive search for an extremely violent and dangerous man that ended with the best possible outcome – the escapee’s capture without physical harm to residents or the brave officers who tracked him down. I commend the hundreds of searchers who were laser-focused in their mission, and did not flinch at the challenges they endured along the way.”

With Cavalcante’s capture now secured, the focus shifts to the legal proceedings. Cavalcante will be transported to a State Correctional Institution, where he will remain for the foreseeable future.

He is due to be arraigned on the felony escape charge, filed on August 31. The Office of the Attorney General will handle the investigation and prosecution regarding Cavalcante’s escape from Chester County Prison.

Given Cavalcante’s existing life sentence without the possibility of parole, the Attorney General’s office will seek to keep him in custody. Following arraignment, the next court date concerning the escape charge will be a preliminary hearing. The public will be kept informed about court proceedings as appropriate.
