WEST CHESTER, PA — If you missed the news earlier this week, over $98,000 in PA Arts and Culture Grants have been awarded to three local organizations in Chester County’s 156th Legislative District.
These funds come from the COVID-19 ARPA PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR), which was established to aid the recovery of Pennsylvania’s vibrant arts and culture sector following the devastating impact of the pandemic.
Here’s a breakdown of the grant recipients:
- The Chester County Art Association received $10,897.
- The Chester County Historical Society was awarded $37,764.
- The Uptown Entertainment Alliance, also known as the Uptown Knauer Performing Arts Center, secured the largest portion with a grant of $49,950.
State Rep. Chris Pielli, D-Chester, highlighted the importance of these grants, saying, “Chester County has such a vibrant community because of our many arts programs. The financial consequences of COVID-19 are far reaching, and the long closures our arts programs went through had the potential to be devastating. I am happy to work with state Senator Carolyn Comitta and the commonwealth for delivering this funding to keep the arts alive and well in Chester County and all of Pennsylvania.”
These grants will undoubtedly provide a much-needed financial boost to these organizations, enabling them to continue their valuable contributions to the cultural fabric of Chester County. By ensuring the stability and recovery of the arts and culture sector, the PACR program is helping to preserve the vibrancy and diversity of our local community.
