PHILADELPHIA, PA — This Saturday, Walmart is hosting its first Wellness Day of 2024 to help Greater Philadelphia area residents kickstart a healthy new year. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., customers can avail themselves of free health screenings and affordable immunizations at nearly 4,600 Walmart pharmacies nationwide.
The health screenings include essential checks for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI). Select locations will also offer free vision screenings. Along with these wellness check-ups, customers can receive a variety of immunizations ranging from flu and COVID-19 to measles, mumps, and more.
Kevin Host, Walmart’s Senior Vice President of Pharmacy, highlights the significance of this event in fostering a connection between the company and the communities it serves. He states, “Wellness Day is a fun experience allowing customers and patients to monitor their health while also building relationships with our dedicated pharmacy teams.”
In addition to health screenings and immunizations, the Wellness Day event will feature wellness resources and opportunities for customers to converse with pharmacists. Select stores will also showcase wellness product demonstrations, offer in-store giveaways, and provide vision screenings.
Ralph Clare, Senior Vice President, Health and Wellness, Consumables, notes that this event underlines Walmart’s commitment to promoting wellness among its customers. He says, “We know a lot of people are eager and motivated to begin a new wellness journey at the start of the year. We want to help them do that, with even extra savings, with rollbacks across healthy foods, vitamins and supplements, and fitness gear.”
Since 2014, Walmart has been organizing Wellness Days, providing over 5 million free health screenings to customers. This initiative is particularly impactful in medically underserved areas where Walmart often serves as the first stop for healthcare.
This Wellness Day event is more than just a health check-up; it’s an opportunity for Greater Philadelphia area residents to take ownership of their health journey. By offering these services, Walmart is not only encouraging individuals to keep track of their health but is also emphasizing the importance of regular check-ups and immunizations in maintaining overall well-being. So come along this Saturday, January 20, and take a proactive step towards a healthier you in 2024.
