NORTH EAST, MD — Cecil College’s Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program honored its Class of 2024 with a Pinning Ceremony on July 24. Held in the Technology Center on the North East Campus, the ceremony recognized five students for completing rigorous coursework and clinical training.
“These students displayed outstanding teamwork, a testament to the unity and support essential in nursing,” said Assistant Professor of Nursing Amy Smythe, who coordinates the LPN Program at Cecil College. “Their journey from novice nurse to expert will be one of continuous education and lifelong learning. This program is just a stepping stone in that journey.”
LPN certificate graduates play a crucial role in healthcare, providing primary patient care and comfort. They work closely with registered nurses and physicians to monitor patient status, manage basic care, and maintain up-to-date medical records.
The students honored during the Pinning Ceremony are:
- Dorothy Berry, Elkton, MD
- Danielle Collins, North East, MD
- Angela C. Ebling, Elkton, MD
- Tiffany Kitts, Elkton, MD
- Jenny Steuernagle, North East, MD
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a five percent growth in demand for LPNs through 2032, outpacing the average for all occupations. In Maryland, the annual mean wage for LPNs is $59,730.
Cecil College continues to support aspiring nurses through its comprehensive LPN program, equipping them with the skills needed for a successful career in healthcare.
