Chester County Hospital Announces Location Closures Due to COVID-19

WEST CHESTER, PA — In a celebration of dedication, innovation, and excellence, Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital (CCH) has announced the recipients of its annual employee leadership recognition awards. The prestigious accolades, which include the Leaders of the Year, Everyday Hero, and Spirit of Belonging awards, recognize unique contributions to the hospital and its patients.

The Leaders of the Year 2023 are Katie Scanlon, Emergency Department Clinical Manager, and Heather Teufel, PharmD, MHA, Director of Pharmacy. This award is bestowed upon team members who embody the values of CCH, including delivering top-quality care, effective resource management, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

Scanlon has been hailed as a “hands-on” leader, lauded for her proactive problem-solving and innovative strategies. She was recognized for fostering wellness opportunities for staff, including a hallway coloring board for stress relief, and implementing a cost-effective strategy for patients requiring blood patches.

Teufel’s commitment to quality improvement and building a culture of excellence earned her this recognition. Among her accomplishments are enhancing drug diversion prevention, assisting in the accreditation process of the CCH Pharmacy Residency program, and leading initiatives that have saved the hospital hundreds of thousands of dollars in pharmaceutical expenses.

The Everyday Hero Award for 2023 was awarded to Moira Meyreles, Associate Chief Human Resource Officer at CCH. This accolade is presented to an individual who embodies servant leadership, consistently prioritizing the needs of others. Meyreles’ acts of kindness include driving new employees to health appointments and volunteering time to help students in afterschool programs.

The Spirit of Belonging Award, given annually to an individual who fosters an open, inclusive, and equitable work environment, was awarded to Ayesha Gonsalves, Team Lead Clinical Informations. Gonsalves stood out for her commitment to creating meaningful connections among colleagues and fostering an innovative and inclusive atmosphere.
