PHILADELPHIA, PA — On Friday, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) celebrated the second anniversary of the Middleman Family Pavilion, a state-of-the-art facility located on its King of Prussia Campus. Since opening its doors in January 2022, the pavilion has provided exceptional care to over 130,000 patients, highlighting the importance and impact of specialized pediatric healthcare in the region.
The Middleman Family Pavilion is an integral part of CHOP’s mission to offer top-tier pediatric care. The facility boasts 98 private inpatient rooms, including a 56-bed medical-surgical unit, an 8-bed oncology unit, and a 16-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The pavilion also features a comprehensive range of pediatric specialties such as oncology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and adolescent medicine.
In addition to these facilities, the pavilion houses an operating room suite with six operating rooms, specializing in elective services that require overnight stays. Notably, the pavilion also includes the Madlyn K. Abramson Emergency Department, the first dedicated 24/7 pediatric emergency department in the King of Prussia area, and offers comprehensive radiology services.
In December 2023, the Middleman Family Pavilion further expanded its services by opening an 18-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (N/IICU). Staffed round-the-clock by a team of neonatologists and advanced practice providers, the unit provides comprehensive care with additional non-urgent surgical capabilities.
Reflecting on the pavilion’s two-year milestone, Cheryl Gebeline-Myers, Vice President of Operations at the Middleman Family Pavilion, said, “We are proud and excited about the growth and expansion of services at the Middleman Family Pavilion in the last two years. We remain committed to serving the King of Prussia and surrounding communities and making it easier and more accessible for families to have world-class pediatric specialists, services, and treatments closer to home.”
The success of the Middleman Family Pavilion underscores the crucial role that specialized pediatric healthcare facilities play in communities. The pavilion’s wide array of services, coupled with its commitment to patient care, sets a high standard for pediatric healthcare providers.
Furthermore, the pavilion’s impact extends beyond providing quality healthcare—it also serves as a testament to the benefits of localizing specialized medical services. By bringing world-class pediatric care closer to home for many families, the Middleman Family Pavilion is shaping the future of healthcare accessibility and delivery.
As CHOP’s Middleman Family Pavilion steps into its third year, the healthcare industry will undoubtedly watch its continued growth and success with interest. Its commitment to excellence and community service sets a benchmark for other institutions striving to make high-quality pediatric care more accessible.
