COATESVILLE, PA — ChesPenn Health Services recently announced it will end its operations in Coatesville on June 30, 2025, citing financial difficulties and the conclusion of its lease and funding agreement with The Alliance for Health Equity (AHE). Despite efforts to secure alternative funding, no sustainable solution was found, prompting the decision to leave the Brandywine Center.
ChesPenn, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), has served the Coatesville community since 2007, providing vital health and dental services. Over the years, AHE has supported ChesPenn through $7.7 million in funding across seven grant periods, ensuring access to essential care in the area. The organization’s decision not to apply for a new funding opportunity released by AHE marks the end of their longstanding partnership.
To ensure continuity of care, AHE plans to bring in a new healthcare provider beginning July 1, 2025. The transition process is already underway, with the selection of a successor expected to conclude in January 2025. AHE remains committed to maintaining high-quality health services at the Brandywine Center, a facility that has become central to the community’s healthcare infrastructure.
“We appreciate ChesPenn’s dedication and contributions to our community over the past 17 years,” said Kevin Ressler, President and CEO of AHE. “Looking ahead, we are focused on sustaining and expanding the availability of health services at the Brandywine Center. The new provider will continue to deliver quality care while supporting innovation in health services delivery.”
To support this effort, AHE has released a three-year grant totaling $1,050,000 for a provider capable of enhancing healthcare offerings. Alongside existing services, the new arrangement is set to advance integrated care models that benefit the broader Coatesville community.
The Brandywine Center, established through a tax credit project by the former Brandywine Health Foundation, hosts health service providers and affordable housing for seniors. Since acquiring full ownership of the center in 2022, AHE has reinforced its commitment to improving local healthcare. Recent additions to the center include organizations like Equity Health Center, Community Volunteers in Medicine, and Legacy Treatment Services, further supporting integrated health services.
The new plans aim to address the community’s needs while ensuring that the Coatesville area continues to have access to reliable, high-quality healthcare.
