West Chester Borough Council Calls for Applications for Volunteer Positions on Boards and Commissions

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Borough Council is currently accepting applications for volunteer positions across a range of its boards and commissions. The deadline for submissions has been extended to December 13, 2023, offering community members an opportunity to actively participate in local governance.

The council is seeking volunteers for the following boards and commissions:

  • Civil Service Commission: This body advises the Council and Mayor on the hiring of personnel for police officer roles in the Police Department.
  • Community Campus Committee: This committee promotes communication and collaboration between Borough of West Chester community leaders, residents, and West Chester University officials.
  • Historic Architectural Review Board: This board reviews, discusses, and advises on design matters, demolitions, renovations, etc.
  • Historical Commission: This commission advocates for the preservation of historic resources.
  • Human Relations Commission: This commission coordinates with the West Chester Borough Manager regarding received complaints and responses.
  • Sustainability Advisory Commission: This commission advises the Borough Council on sustainable practices, monitors the Borough’s carbon footprint, and addresses stormwater quality matters.
  • Tree Commission: This commission provides residents with information on the urban canopy, tree maintenance, and more.
  • West Chester Library Board: This board directs the operations of the West Chester Public Library.

These volunteer roles offer residents a chance to make a significant contribution to their community and have a say in shaping its future.
