WEST CHESTER, PA — Sheriff-Elect Kevin Dykes has announced his selection of Jason Suydam as the Chief Deputy of the Chester County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), effective from January 1, 2024.
Suydam is set to bring over two decades of distinguished leadership experience to his new role at the CCSO. His extensive background spans both government and private sectors, with a particular focus on public safety and law enforcement operations.
Among his many professional accomplishments, Suydam founded and operated Northeast Defense Systems, LLC, a security and training company serving both private and government sectors. He has also acted as the Interim Director of the Chester County Department of Emergency Services and served as a critical liaison to law enforcement agencies, as well as federal, state, and regional partners in his role as Deputy Director for Law Enforcement Services.
Suydam’s expertise extends to public safety training and management, employee relations, budget management, fleet and vendor management, and community relations. He is a certified trainer/instructor and has received recognition from the United States Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the United States Marshals Service.
An active member of several law enforcement associations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police, and Chester County Chiefs of Police Executive Board, Suydam also dedicates his time to various executive boards and committees to ensure community and public safety.

Suydam’s appointment as Chief Deputy is expected to bring continuity and further strengthen the law enforcement and public safety services in Chester County.
