KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Longwood Gardens expressed deep gratitude yesterday following the capture of escaped prisoner Danelo Souza Cavalcante. The 34-year-old Brazilian national had been on the run since his escape from Chester County Prison on August 31, 2023.
Longwood Gardens issued a statement thanking law enforcement agencies, authorities, and government officials for their relentless pursuit leading to Cavalcante’s apprehension on the morning of Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
“Longwood Gardens wishes to express our deepest gratitude to law enforcement, authorities, and government officials for their tireless work in apprehending Danelo Cavalcante,” the statement read. “We are grateful for the peaceful conclusion and thank all those involved in the search for their unwavering dedication.”
Cavalcante, who had been serving a life sentence for homicide, was also wanted on similar charges in his home country of Brazil. His escape from prison had triggered an intense manhunt that lasted for nearly two weeks.
Following the capture, Longwood Gardens expressed relief and anticipation for a return to normalcy. The Gardens, known for their tranquillity and beauty, were disrupted by the high-profile manhunt and the subsequent media attention.
“We look forward to our community returning to normal activity and look forward to welcoming guests back to the serenity and beauty of our Gardens,” the statement concluded.
The capture of Cavalcante brings an end to a tense period for the local community. It is hoped that with this development, the residents and visitors of Kennett Square can once again enjoy the peace and serenity offered by Longwood Gardens, without the shadow of the fugitive’s presence.
