WEST CHESTER, PA — Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) is set to host her 84th town hall at St. Paul’s Baptist Church in West Chester on Saturday, March 16, inviting residents from Berks and Chester Counties to engage in a discussion centered around public service. The event, scheduled for 1 p.m., will be followed by a resource fair at 2 p.m.

The town hall will be moderated by Rev. Dr. Wayne E. Croft Sr., Pastor of St. Paul’s Baptist Church. Joining Houlahan for a question-and-answer session will be three distinguished panelists: Michael D. Smith, President of AmeriCorps; retired USAF Captain Howard Crawford, Commander of American Legion Post 134 in West Chester; and Kelly Young, an AmeriCorps alumna working with LegalAid in West Chester.

Drawing from her own experiences as a veteran and Corps member of AmeriCorps’ Teach for America program, Houlahan highlighted the transformative role of service organizations like the military and AmeriCorps. “Service organizations make our communities whole and help us care for one another,” said Houlahan. “I hope to see neighbors of all ages come out for information and leave with a newfound understanding of how they can participate in public service.”

The subsequent resource fair will feature a host of organizations, including AmeriCorps, Chester County Dept. Of Human Services, Chester County Sheriff’s Department, Community Resource Corps Philadelphia, Legal Aid of Southeastern PA, United Way of Chester County, and the United States Air Force, among others. These organizations will provide attendees with valuable information about a range of public service opportunities available in their community.

This event underscores Houlahan’s dedication to fostering a spirit of public service within her constituency. It provides an avenue for community members to learn about public service careers that align with their skills and passions, while also facilitating a dialogue about the importance of such roles in shaping a robust and caring community.
