HARRISBURG, PA — In a major push to enhance transportation infrastructure, Chester County has secured significant funding as part of Governor Josh Shapiro’s broader $51 million allocation from the Multimodal Transportation Fund. This initiative aims to bolster transportation projects across Pennsylvania, enhancing connectivity and safety for its residents.

The City of Coatesville will see an investment of $121,955 to expand the streetscape along Lincoln Highway. This extension, covering the area between Third and Fourth avenues, aims to improve urban aesthetics and pedestrian access.

Phoenixville Borough is set to receive $900,000 to upgrade Bridge and Starr streets. The project includes extending Starr Street north, providing an additional exit for Ashland Street, and enhancing SEPTA access, thus facilitating smoother transit for commuters.

Oxford Borough’s infrastructure will benefit from $854,356 earmarked for the development of Niblock Alley and the adjacent Broad St. Bridge. This project will transform these areas into vital public streets and gateways to downtown Oxford. Enhanced pedestrian safety and multimodal circulation are key focuses, alongside improved rail movement supported by a new switch.

In West Grove Borough, $513,530 is allocated for multimodal improvements to Prospect Avenue. These upgrades are anticipated to increase accessibility and safety for both pedestrians and vehicles.

These investments aim to foster economic growth and improve the quality of life by enhancing local infrastructure. With these projects, Chester County is poised to see significant improvements in transportation efficiency and community connectivity.
