WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County Parks + Preservation has a new face at the helm of its parks and trails. Director David Stauffer recently announced the appointment of Andrew McMullen as the new Parks and Trails Manager. This promotion marks a significant milestone in McMullen’s 22-year tenure with the department, during which he has served in various roles, including part-time maintenance worker, Regional Park Ranger, and Assistant Parks and Trails Manager.

Stauffer praised McMullen’s appointment, highlighting his strong leadership qualities and passion for connecting visitors with Chester County’s expansive parks and trails system. As the new Parks and Trails Manager, McMullen will oversee the day-to-day management and operations of the county’s seven regional park sites and three regional trails.

McMullen steps into the role previously held by Owen Prusack, who retired last November after a remarkable 41-year career with the county. Armed with years of experience and a deep understanding of the region’s natural spaces, McMullen expressed his eagerness to continue providing the community with exceptional parks and trails.

His commitment to public service extends beyond the realm of parks and trails. McMullen is also a Penn State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and a former sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. From 2000 to 2006, he lent his skills to Operation Iraqi Freedom, collaborating with local governments to develop community infrastructure and secure supplies for schools.

The Chester County Parks + Preservation Department is known for its efforts in preserving and promoting the county’s natural and cultural resources. It provides a range of services, including recreation, education, and stewardship, aiming to foster a sustainable, healthy community for residents and visitors alike.
