WEST CHESTER, PA — Two deputies from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office have successfully completed the prestigious Command & Leadership Academy, a distinguished program developed by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) in collaboration with the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Corporal Tony Wilson and Corporal Deborah Gibney earned their places among a select group of law enforcement professionals prepared to assume advanced leadership roles.

The Command & Leadership Academy, established in 1993, is modeled after West Point’s renowned leadership curriculum. It combines rigorous theoretical learning with practical application to prepare participants for leadership in complex and high-pressure environments. The program focuses on pivotal areas, including leadership psychology, organizational behavior, decision-making under stress, and effective communication.

Chester County Sheriff Kevin Dykes commended Wilson and Gibney for their commitment to professional growth, emphasizing the broader impact of their achievement. “We are incredibly proud of Corporals Wilson and Gibney for their dedication and commitment to enhancing their leadership skills, not only for their professional growth but also for the benefit of the Chester County community,” he stated.

The academy is recognized as one of the most challenging leadership programs for law enforcement personnel, demanding intensive study, teamwork, and practical exercises from participants. Its completion underscores the Chester County Sheriff’s Office’s dedication to fostering professional development and leadership excellence within its ranks.
