Chester County Celebrates 94-Year-Old Employee Retiring After 37 Years of Exceptional Service

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County Government recognized one of its most dedicated employees, Gerri Jackson, at Wednesday’s Commissioners’ Public Meeting as she prepares to conclude her remarkable 37-year career. At the age of 94, Gerri is set to retire on February 15, marking the end of an extraordinary tenure with the Facilities Department.

Gerri began working for Chester County in September 1987 as a part-time member of the custodial team. Over the years, she became an invaluable figure, overseeing the upkeep of key offices including the Commissioners’ Office, Controller’s Office, Solicitor’s Office, and Finance Department. Her dedication and personable nature left a lasting impact on colleagues and those she served.

During the recognition event, family, friends, and coworkers gathered to celebrate Gerri’s legacy and wish her a well-earned retirement. Many highlighted her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering smile as qualities they will deeply miss. The Commissioners—Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz, and Eric Roe—presented Gerri with a special citation, honoring her decades of service. The citation noted that she had worked alongside 18 different County Commissioners and countless staff members, consistently offering support, advice, and a deep-seated commitment to her role.

“Gerri has been more than just a member of our team; she has been a cornerstone of the county’s operations,” the Commissioners stated. “Her pride in her work has truly been an example for all of us.”

Gerri’s retirement brings an end to a career defined by dedication, positivity, and a strong work ethic.
