Vishay Intertechnology’s Haptic Feedback Actuators Reach Elektra Awards Finals

Vishay Intertechnology

MALVERN, PAVishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has announced that its IHPT series of haptic feedback actuators has been selected as a finalist for the 2024 Elektra Awards in the “Passive and Electromechanical Product of the Year” category. The devices, designed for human-machine interfaces (HMI) in applications like LCD displays, touchscreens, and button control panels, offer high-definition (HD) tactile feedback with a focus on performance and cost efficiency.

The Elektra Awards, organized by Electronics Weekly, honor innovation and excellence in the global electronics industry. Finalists are chosen by a panel of independent judges, with the winners across 17 categories to be revealed at the awards dinner in London on December 10, 2024.

Vishay’s IHPT series stands out due to its solenoid-based construction, which delivers fast response times of just 5 milliseconds and high mechanical force for clear and precise haptic effects. Available in four sizes, ranging from 29 mm x 21 mm to 44 mm x 37 mm, the actuators produce forces from 25 Newtons to 120 Newtons. Their operating voltage range of 8 V to 16 V and compact two-piece design ensure ease of installation and reliable performance, even in rugged environments.

The IHPT series can operate at a nominal 12 V, eliminating the need for high-voltage circuitry found in competing technologies. This feature, combined with a streamlined design process supported by bundled Immersion Corporation licenses, allows for reduced costs and simplified implementation compared to other solutions like piezo actuators or linear resonant technologies.

Engineered with a rigid copper and iron core construction, the actuators perform reliably in high-temperature environments up to +105°C. These technical advantages position the IHPT series as a standout product, offering robust capabilities and cost efficiency for modern HMI applications.
