BERWYN, PA — The legal firm McAndrews, Mehalick, Connolly, Hulse and Ryan P.C. (MLO) recently welcomed Attorney Laura Attieh to its team. Ms. Attieh, who brings nearly 15 years of experience in child advocacy, will focus her practice on MLO’s special education department.
Prior to joining MLO, Ms. Attieh served as the Deputy District Attorney for Northampton County, where she prosecuted the largest, most complex human trafficking case in the Lehigh Valley, securing a 76 ½ year-to-life imprisonment sentence for the perpetrator and ensuring the safety of multiple victims.
During her tenure at the District Attorney’s office, she served as Chief Prosecutor of the Juvenile Unit and was part of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit. There, she handled countless cases involving juveniles within the criminal justice system related to issues of dependency, truancy, and school discipline.
“The interplay between such cases within special education may be overlooked, leaving parents very under-represented,” notes Ms. Attieh. Equipped with extensive experience and skills, she is poised to provide comprehensive and compassionate representation for children with disabilities and their families. She also plans to represent students of all ages, including post-secondary matters, in Title IX proceedings.
The MLO team extends a warm welcome to Ms. Attieh, whose reputation as a remarkable trial attorney precedes her. Her passion for child advocacy and drive to improve the lives of children align perfectly with MLO’s mission.
Ms. Attieh is a graduate of Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School and the University of Delaware. She has been admitted to the bars of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the State of New Jersey.
Over her career, she has been recognized for her contributions to the legal profession and the community. Her affiliations include the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Northampton County Bar Association, and she is a Board Member of the Community Music School in Allentown, Pennsylvania. In 2019, she was the recipient of the “Valliere & Counseling Associates Challenge Coin Award”.
With Ms. Attieh joining the team, MLO continues to show its commitment to providing top-tier legal representation to families and children, particularly those navigating the complexities of the special education system.
