SANTA CLARA, CA — Realtor.com’s latest report reveals that the Midwest and Northeast regions are home to this year’s hottest ZIP codes, with Gahanna, Ohio’s 43230 securing the top spot for a second consecutive year. This trend highlights a shift towards areas that offer affordability and urban amenities.

According to Realtor.com’s Chief Economist, Danielle Hale, “While we’ve seen big changes in the housing market, such as a growing number of homes for sale, this year’s hottest ZIP codes in America show common factors are driving interest in these highly competitive areas.” Hale emphasizes the ongoing focus on affordability amid high housing costs as a key factor drawing buyers to these regions.

The 2024 list features ZIP codes that are largely located in the Northeast, including areas in Massachusetts and New Jersey, while the Midwest claims three spots. These ZIPs provide more space and remain attractive due to their lower price points compared to national averages. In particular, homes in Gahanna sell for 19.4% below the national median, making it an appealing choice for budget-conscious buyers.

Competition in these markets is intense, with homes selling faster and often above asking prices. Buyers in these areas are notably well-prepared, with higher average credit scores and larger down payments than the national averages.

Overall, the report underscores the growing demand for homes in regions that balance value with proximity to urban conveniences, reflecting a broader shift in buyer priorities across the U.S. housing market.
