Trinseo Releases 2024 Sustainability Report, Highlights Major Advances

WAYNE, PATrinseo (NYSE: TSE) has published its 2024 Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility Report, emphasizing the company’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Frank Bozich, Trinseo’s President and CEO, highlighted the company’s focus on sustainability and innovation in a rapidly changing chemical manufacturing landscape.

The report details significant progress toward Trinseo’s 2030 Sustainability Goals. In 2023, the company made notable strides in its Climate Change initiatives. Trinseo conducted energy assessments at multiple global facilities to identify potential sites for renewable energy supply, aligning with its goals of reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Trinseo also advanced its Scope 3 GHG emissions management by establishing a Scope 3 Council. This council aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the company’s carbon footprint and ensure the accuracy of its Scope 3 inventory through third-party verification.

“Sustainability is the backbone of our strategy at Trinseo and a key pillar of our future,” said Francesca Reverberi, Senior Vice President of Engineered Materials and Chief Sustainability Officer. She emphasized the company’s commitment to creating a sustainable workforce, reducing its carbon footprint, and building a circular value chain.

Key highlights from the report include:

  • Recycling Technologies: Trinseo launched a pilot facility for polycarbonate dissolution in Terneuzen, The Netherlands, and began construction on a polymethyl methacrylate depolymerization facility in Rho, Italy. These advancements aim to enhance material circularity.
  • Sustainable Workforce Goals: The company expanded its 2030 Sustainable Workforce Goals to focus on inclusivity, talent development, and safety. These goals guide recruiting, developing, and retaining an inclusive workforce.

The report adheres to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2021 Universal Standards and incorporates the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) framework. Additionally, Trinseo published a Core Impact Report, offering a holistic view of how the company creates and disperses value over time.
