Vishay Intertechnology Unveils New IGBT and MOSFET Drivers for High-Performance Applications

Vishay Intertechnology

MALVERN, PAVishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has announced the launch of two innovative IGBT and MOSFET drivers, the VOFD341A and VOFD343A, housed in a compact, high isolation stretched SO-6 package. These new devices are engineered to deliver peak output currents of 3 A and 4 A, respectively, and boast an impressive maximum operating temperature of +125 °C.

These drivers are designed with an AlGaAs LED optically coupled to an integrated circuit featuring a power output stage. This setup makes them ideal for a range of high-demand applications, including solar inverters, microinverters, industrial motor control inverters for both AC and brushless DC motors, and inverter stages for AC/DC conversion in UPS systems. The VOFD341A and VOFD343A are particularly suited for driving IGBTs with ratings of up to 1200 V / 100 A.

Key technical advantages of these drivers include their high operating temperature, which offers a significant safety margin for more compact electronic designs. Additionally, their capability to deliver high peak output currents facilitates faster switching, eliminating the necessity for an additional driver stage. The low propagation delay of 200 ns maximum further reduces switching losses, enhancing precise PWM regulation.

Moreover, the optocouplers’ high isolation package supports high working voltages up to 1.140 V, ensuring a substantial voltage safety margin for high voltage inverter stages. The devices are RoHS-compliant and feature high noise immunity of 50 kV/µs, which is crucial for preventing functional failures in fast switching power stages.

With these advanced capabilities, Vishay’s new VOFD341A and VOFD343A drivers set a new standard in performance and reliability for power electronics applications.
