MALVERN, PA — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), a global manufacturer and supplier of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components, has announced the launch of five new high-speed optocouplers. These 10 MBd devices are engineered for energy efficiency, making them ideal for industrial applications where power conservation is key.
The single-channel VOH260A, VOIH060A, and VOWH260A, along with the dual-channel VOH263A and VOIH063A, have been designed with a wide voltage supply range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. They also feature an open collector output, enabling compatibility with low voltage microcontrollers and I²C and SPI bus systems.
These new offerings from Vishay Semiconductors come in DIP-8, SMD-8, and SOIC-8 packages. They are equipped with an efficient input LED which is linked to an integrated photodetector logic gate with a strobable output. The optocouplers boast a low supply current of maximum 5 mA per channel and a typical turn-on threshold current of 2 mA. These characteristics simplify design processes by eliminating the need for an additional driver stage for a direct microcontroller connection.
The newly launched optocouplers are well-suited for a range of applications, including data communications, high-speed A/D and D/A conversion, level shifting, and providing high voltage safety in automation equipment, motor drives, and tools. One notable feature of these devices is an internal shield that guarantees a minimum common mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 15 kV/μs. This, coupled with their low turn-on threshold and supply current, makes the optocouplers perfect for noise isolation and breaking up ground loops in various applications.
Compliant with RoHS standards, these optocouplers offer a maximum rated withstand isolation voltage up to 5000 VRMS. They also provide isolation distances from 5 mm to 10 mm, making them suitable for applications with working voltages exceeding 1000 V.
Vishay Intertechnology has already begun providing samples and production quantities of these high-speed optocouplers, with a lead time of six weeks.
