Vishay Intertechnology Unveils High-Power Resistor for Demanding Applications

Vishay Intertechnology

MALVERN, PA — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has introduced the MCB ISOA200, a robust thick film power resistor designed for automotive, industrial, and aerospace applications. The new device, housed in a compact SOT-227B package, boasts high pulse handling capability and power dissipation of up to 200 W at 80 °C, making it ideal for precharge, discharge, and snubber resistor functions.

Built with an alumina substrate instead of a traditional metal tab, the ISOA200 reduces weight and manufacturing costs while maintaining durability. The resistor offers a resistance range from 10 Ω to 1 MΩ, operating temperatures from -55 °C to +150 °C, and a maximum operating voltage of 1500 V. It can also withstand energy pulses of up to 140 J for 0.1 seconds, proving its reliability in high-stress environments.

The ISOA200 includes innovative options like an AEC-Q200 qualified NTC thermistor for temperature monitoring and pre-applied Phase Change Thermal Interface Material (PC-TIM), which simplifies installation and saves valuable board space. “The addition of these features enhances design efficiency and reduces reliance on multiple components,” the company noted.

With its rugged non-inductive design, high power capabilities, and compliance with RoHS standards, the MCB ISOA200 is set to play a pivotal role in advancing technologies across critical sectors, including automotive and aerospace.
