MALVERN, PA — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has unveiled a new series of wireless charging coils designed to perform in high humidity environments, up to 90% relative humidity. These advanced wireless charging transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) coils are engineered for diverse applications in industrial, medical, and consumer electronics, supporting power needs up to 30 watts.

The new lineup includes the Vishay Dale IWAS3222CZEB190JR1 Rx coil and the IWTX4646DCEB240JR1, IWTX47R0DAEB6R3JR1, and IWTX47R0EBEB240JR1 Tx coils. These components are equipped to handle high temperatures up to 105 °C, featuring a 25% reduction in size compared to previous models and similar products in the market.

A key advancement in these coils is their ability to resist moisture, attributed to a specialized shield coating that enhances environmental protection. The use of high saturation powdered iron in the coils offers robustness against temperature changes, avoiding the inductance drop-offs typical in ferrite-based alternatives. This material choice is crucial for enhancing inductance, managing flux leakage, and optimizing flux directionality.

The Rx coil, IWAS3222CZEB190JR1, boasts an inductance of 19.6 μH, a quality factor (Q) of 28.5 at 200 kHz, and a DC resistance (DCR) of 357 mΩ. The Tx coils deliver inductance ranging from 6.3 μH to 24 μH, with DCR as low as 40 mΩ, Q values up to 200, and heat rating current reaching 7 A. These specifications ensure effective power transfer and stable inductance, even at high saturation currents up to 22 A.

For enhanced durability, the Tx coils incorporate silk-covered litz wire, which mitigates issues like scratching and wire deformation, improves insulation, and reduces electrical skin effect and proximity losses. Additionally, the IWTX4646DCEB240JR1 and IWTX47R0EBEB240JR1 models utilize an alpha winding technique, minimizing wire crossover and presenting a low-profile design.
