MALVERN, PA — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has announced the expansion of its 299 PHL-4TSI series of snap-in, four-terminal aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The new range includes capacitors with voltage ratings of 350 V, 500 V, 550 V, and 600 V, significantly broadening the options available for designers in various industries.
These capacitors are designed for use in power supplies and inverters for both industrial and home appliance applications. By offering these new voltage ratings, Vishay aims to help designers reduce the number of components needed, thereby lowering costs and enhancing the mechanical stability and lifespan of end products.
The 299 PHL-4TSI series features capacitors housed in cylindrical aluminum cases with pressure relief, insulated with a blue sleeve. They boast high ripple current ratings between 1.9 A and 7.6 A, enabling the use of fewer components to meet application requirements. These capacitors can operate at high temperatures of up to 105 °C and have a long useful life exceeding 5000 hours while enduring high ripple currents.
A key advantage of these four-terminal snap-in capacitors is their ability to replace bulkier screw terminal capacitors connected by a bus-bar with smaller components that can be soldered onto a PCB. This change significantly reduces construction costs and simplifies the assembly process.
The capacitors’ larger can sizes, ranging from 35 mm by 50 mm to 45 mm by 100 mm, further enhance their utility by minimizing the number of components required in a given application. As polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, the 299 PHL-4TSI series is well-suited for applications involving smoothing, filtering, and energy storage.
In compliance with Reach and RoHS standards, these capacitors offer increased mechanical stability and a four-terminal configuration that ensures keyed polarity, making them a reliable choice for designers looking to optimize their systems.
