EXTON, PA — Ricoh USA, Inc., a global technology company, recently announced the launch of its latest high-speed inkjet webfed platform, the RICOH Pro™ VC80000. This new platform enables print service providers to leverage advanced automation, quality control, and production floor integration.
The RICOH Pro VC80000, a successor to the successful RICOH Pro™ VC70000, is designed for premium quality direct mail, color books, catalogs, magazines, and commercial print applications on coated media up to 300gsm.
Unique software and hardware tools deliver increased automation, print quality control, and communication with AI, machine learning, and data analysis features. These ensure predictable and repeatable output with minimal operator intervention.
Despite being the smallest machine in its class, with a full duplex engine measuring less than 32.8 feet (ten meters), the RICOH Pro VC80000 incorporates the latest generation ink and temperature-controlled inkjet heads. The machine introduces several revolutionary technologies that achieve a maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200dpi and a maximum speed up to 492fpm (150mpm) – a 50% increase in production output compared to previous generation presses.
Key features include:
- Faster startup times: ‘firefly’ dryer technology enables the press to reach operating temperature in less than half the time of a typical drying system.
- Automated quality control: The RICOH Pro Scanner monitors multiple facets of print quality, allowing the RICOH Pro VC80000 to automatically compensate for nozzle issues with real-time adjustment of adjacent nozzle outputs.
- Operational data analysis: RICOH Supervisor™ collects and analyzes operational data from connected production print devices and software, creating web-based dashboard views to optimize device utilization and throughput.
- Real-time color reproduction monitoring: A spectrophotometer eliminates manual image adjustment, identifying any variance in the target output and making necessary adjustments on the fly.
- Quick paper setup: A Smart Start feature allows automated machine setup prior to the start of a shift without an operator on site.
- Enhanced communication for inline finishing: Auto-splicing units support nonstop production.
The RICOH Pro VC80000 offers significant productivity enhancements and drives down the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), redefining the landscape for print service providers. The high-speed inkjet press will be available in early 2024 across the U.S. and Canada.
