Depression Treatment Access Expanded By Lucet Health Policy Change

Neuronetics, Inc

MALVERN, PA — Lucet Health, a behavioral health organization, has made a significant move that could potentially improve the lives of millions of Americans battling depression. Neuronetics, Inc. (NASDAQ: STIM) announced the revised Lucet Health’s policy criteria to increase accessibility to transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Under the new policy, patients will now be eligible for TMS treatments, such as Neuronetics’ NeuroStar® Advanced Therapy, after only two unsuccessful attempts with antidepressant medication, compared to the previous requirement of four. This policy change aims to provide more effective and timely care for those in need.

The new policy, effective as of February 1, 2024, is expected to increase access to mental health coverage and accelerate the path to wellness for patients. Lucet Health’s policies impact approximately nine million individuals covered by large insurance carriers across the country.

Neuronetics, Inc., a leading provider of TMS therapy, applauded the policy update. “We commend Lucet Health for recognizing the importance of ensuring that individuals can access proven treatments like NeuroStar earlier in their path towards wellness,” stated Keith J. Sullivan, President and CEO of Neuronetics.

TMS treatment, a non-invasive procedure, uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain and has been shown to be effective in treating depression. It offers an alternative for patients who have not responded well to traditional antidepressant medications.

This announcement comes on the heels of Neuronetics reporting favorable TMS coverage changes through three additional payors. As the only TMS company in the industry with a dedicated health policy team, Neuronetics continues to partner with providers and payors to advocate for health policy changes that improve patient access to TMS treatment.
