MALVERN, PA — HMP Global‘s 2024 Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) Fall has reached an unprecedented milestone with nearly 400 abstract submissions, affirming its status as the premier gathering for wound care specialists worldwide. Scheduled for October 2-5 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, SAWC Fall promises an enriching experience designed to connect diverse members of the wound care community through a robust educational agenda.
This year, a remarkable 391 abstracts were submitted, significantly surpassing the 260 submissions received in 2023. From these, 312 abstracts have been selected for presentation or poster display, offering participants access to the latest research and innovations in wound care. These abstracts will find a lasting platform through publication in the esteemed journal, Wounds, post-conference. As the official publication for SAWC, Wounds is a vital resource indexed in MEDLINE/PubMED, widely regarded by professionals for its peer-reviewed content on wound care and research.
John C. Lantis II, MD, FACS, Editor-in-Chief of Wounds, remarked on the importance of the journal’s role in perpetuating academic dialogue: “Most major academic meetings have a mechanism by which their abstracts are published, and therefore they live on in perpetuity. I am very happy to see that, as the official journal of the SAWC, Wounds will be publishing abstracts presented this fall in Las Vegas.”
In a noteworthy development, the Fall National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) meeting will be co-located with SAWC Fall, marking a strategic alliance aimed at enhancing patient outcomes through improved pressure injury management. Tiffney Oliver, Vice President of the Wound Care Learning Network at HMP Education, highlighted this collaboration’s potential: “Collaboration between SAWC Fall and NPIAP exemplifies the power of unity in advancing patient outcomes. This partnership will drive innovation, share best practices, and enhance care strategies, leading to higher standards in wound management and patient healing.”
SAWC Fall’s comprehensive agenda includes the Amputation Prevention Symposium (AMP) Educational Series, which will delve into the prevention, early detection, treatment, and rehabilitation of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) patients. The Business of Wound Care Educational Series will address the complexities of healthcare delivery beyond clinical practice, focusing on coding, coverage, payment, regulations, and public policy.
This year’s symposium will also introduce Case in Point sessions, offering interactive education through expert-led case studies on atypical wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, lymphedema, and ostomy management. With over 40 sessions led by 55 faculty experts and more than 100 industry supporters showcasing cutting-edge wound care technology, SAWC Fall is poised to deliver a high-impact learning experience.
SAWC Fall 2024 is a pivotal event for healthcare professionals, providing a unique platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and advancement in wound care practices. By fostering an environment of innovation and shared knowledge, SAWC continues to lead the charge in shaping the future of wound management.
