HMP Global’s 2024 International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy to Explore AI’s Role in Patient Care

MALVERN, PA — As the healthcare sector continues to evolve at breakneck speed, medical professionals are increasingly turning to technology to enhance patient care. This year’s International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET), organized by HMP Global, promises to delve into this trend, with a particular focus on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in endovascular therapy.

The symposium, set to take place from January 22-25 in Miami Beach, Florida, marks its 36th year as a leading platform for endovascular education. The event will gather interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional cardiologists, and their teams for an intensive program filled with practical knowledge and innovative techniques that can be put into immediate practice.

“ISET has long been the leading meeting in endovascular therapy, and this year we are excited to delve into artificial intelligence and both the challenges and opportunities that come with its introduction into clinical practice,” said ISET Founder and Course Director Barry T. Katzen, MD. “It is happening now and will continue into the future. The hope is that our audience will leave with an understanding of how AI will affect them and what plans they should be making to improve care and outcomes for their patients.”

A highlight of the symposium will be the ISET Townhall, scheduled for Tuesday, January 23. The town hall will center on the implications of AI in endovascular therapy, featuring a keynote presentation by Peter Fitzgerald, MD, PhD, a renowned interventional cardiologist and engineer at Stanford University. Dr. Fitzgerald’s talk, “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: The Good, The Bad, and The Scary,” will kick-start a series of sessions discussing various aspects of AI in healthcare.

The town hall will also include discussions on topics such as the Food & Drug Administration’s challenges in assessing and approving AI products, the role of AI in procedural medicine, potential AI applications for intervention, and current and future challenges regarding AI in scientific publications and editorial review. These sessions will be led by recognized experts in the field, including Troy Tazbaz, Sanjay Misra, MD, Dania Daye, MD, PhD, and Daniel Sze, MD, PhD.

Following the presentations, a panel discussion will provide attendees with the opportunity to engage with the speakers and ask questions.

The four-day symposium will offer a comprehensive educational program featuring over 150 sessions presented by faculty experts. The program will cover a wide array of topics, including focused symposia, live cases and exams, early career sessions, tutorials, updates on critical issues from the past year, disruptors in the future of endovascular therapy, and ground-breaking research.

ISET’s robust schedule is further bolstered by continued endorsements from the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), the Society of Vascular Medicine (SVM) and the Society of Vascular Surgery (SVS), and newly confirmed sessions developed in partnership with the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and SIR.

As healthcare technology continues to evolve, events like ISET provide invaluable opportunities for professionals to stay ahead of the curve. This year’s focus on AI underlines the growing importance of this technology in improving patient outcomes and shaping the future of healthcare.
