MALVERN, PA — PQ LLC., a leading global provider of specialty catalysts, services, and chemicals, recently announced plans to significantly expand its manufacturing capabilities. The Malvern, Pennsylvania-based company intends to enhance its Augusta, Georgia-based facility with an on-site sodium silicate furnace.

This strategic move is set to substantially boost PQ’s production capabilities in the Southeastern United States and fortify its broader silicate supply network. The high-efficiency furnace will incorporate cutting-edge technology and engineering improvements, reflecting PQ’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The project, coordinated with the support of the Augusta Economic Development Authority, is expected to not only maintain the current employment level at PQ’s Augusta facility but also bring new high-quality jobs to the region.

Al Beninati, President and Chief Executive Officer of PQ, highlighted the alignment of this investment with the company’s strategy of expanding its platform to meet growing customer demands. The new furnace, whose construction is expected to commence in early 2024, will further extend PQ’s longstanding presence in the Augusta region. Operational by 2025, it signifies a significant investment in the local community where PQ has been a proud neighbor for more than 58 years.
