Vanguard’s Financial Advisor Services Division to See Leadership Change in 2024

Vanguard

VALLEY FORGE, PA — Vanguard, the Pennsylvania-based investment management firm, announced a major shift in its senior leadership team as Tom Rampulla, managing director and head of Vanguard’s Financial Advisor Services (FAS) division, steps down after a remarkable 35-year career. Effective January 1, 2024, Amma Boateng, the current head of the Broker-Dealer channel within FAS, will assume Rampulla’s role.

Rampulla’s tenure at Vanguard has been marked by significant growth and expansion. Since joining the company in 1988, he has played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding the FAS business, including the distribution of Vanguard’s U.S. ETF product lineup. His contributions were further recognized in 2015 when he was appointed to Vanguard’s senior leadership team as head of FAS.

Under Rampulla’s stewardship, FAS has flourished, managing over $3 trillion in assets and serving more than 150,000 financial advisors with investments, services, education, and research. Notably, from 2008 to 2015, Rampulla served as the inaugural head of Vanguard’s U.K. and European operations, setting the foundation for the firm’s European ETF franchise.

“Tom’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication have been instrumental in shaping our European business and elevating the FAS division to new heights,” said Tim Buckley, Vanguard Chairman, and CEO. “His legacy will be seen in the many leaders he has mentored and the innovative ways he has leveraged technology to redefine service.”

As Rampulla prepares to pass the torch, Boateng stands ready to lead the FAS division into its next chapter. Joining Vanguard in 2004, Boateng has amassed a wealth of experience, holding roles in Vanguard’s Investment Management, Finance, and Personal Investor divisions. Most recently, she has led the Broker-Dealer channel within FAS, catering to wirehouse, independent, and regional broker-dealers with high-quality investment products and services.

Boateng has also made significant contributions through her leadership of Vanguard’s Advisor Solutions function, which delivers value-added capabilities and resources to Vanguard’s financial advisor clients, including technology, portfolio solutions, and thought leadership.

“Amma brings a deep understanding of global capital markets, strong digital acumen, and a passion for helping advisors drive investment success for individual investors,” commented Buckley. “Her expertise will be invaluable as we continue our commitment to serving our clients and advancing our mission.”

As Vanguard navigates this leadership transition, the firm remains committed to its core mission of helping investors achieve their long-term financial goals. The change in leadership underscores Vanguard’s commitment to nurturing internal talent and fostering a culture of continuous growth and innovation.
