VALLEY FORGE, PA — UGI Corporation (NYSE: UGI) has announced the appointment of Robert C. Flexon as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2024. Flexon takes over from Mario Longhi, who has been serving as Interim President and CEO since December 2023. Longhi will return to his role as an independent director and continue as the non-executive chair of UGI’s Board of Directors.
Flexon brings a wealth of leadership and industry experience to UGI, having previously held several senior roles in the energy sector. Before rejoining UGI, he served as Chair of the Board at PG&E Corporation and led its recovery following Chapter 11 proceedings. He also held positions with The Electric Reliability Council of Texas and Capstone Green Energy Holdings, Inc., indicating a broad expertise in energy and financial management.
His career includes significant leadership roles at Dynegy Inc., where he served as President and CEO from 2011 to 2018, and earlier executive roles at NRG Energy, Inc. and Foster Wheeler AG. Flexon also has a history with UGI, having served as Chief Financial Officer in 2011.
The Board of UGI expressed confidence in Flexon’s ability to guide the company forward. Mario Longhi praised Flexon’s track record in transforming organizations, emphasizing his potential to deliver on UGI’s long-term strategies. Alan Harris, UGI’s Presiding Director, thanked Longhi for his leadership during a critical period and welcomed Flexon back to the company.
Flexon, aged 66, plans to focus on operational improvements, financial strengthening, and building on UGI’s established culture. His return to UGI is seen as a strategic move to leverage his extensive experience in driving growth and efficiency within the company and its operations.
With his appointment, Flexon will resign from his current positions at PG&E and The Electric Reliability Council of Texas by the end of 2024. His leadership is expected to bring fresh insights and strategic direction to UGI Corporation, enhancing its position in the energy sector.
