KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The United Way of Southern Chester County (UWSCC) has appointed Darcie Martin as its new Chief Executive Officer. Martin, a seasoned nonprofit professional with over 20 years of experience, takes on this leadership role with a strong record of success in fundraising, relationship-building, and team development.
Prior to joining UWSCC, Martin served as Deputy Executive Director at the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science. During her tenure, she led the $10 million Museum Metamorphosis capital campaign, which transformed key galleries and introduced eight new interactive exhibits. Her ability to secure substantial support from individual donors, foundations, and corporations has contributed significantly to the growth of the organizations she’s served.
“Darcie’s extensive experience and passion for strengthening communities make her an ideal leader for UWSCC,” said Craig Blecher, President of the Board of Directors. “Her strategic approach to nonprofit leadership will be instrumental in addressing the evolving needs of Southern Chester County.”
Martin holds advanced credentials in nonprofit leadership, including a master’s degree from Penn State University and professional certificates from Duke University and the University of Delaware. She also brings a collaborative and mentorship-driven leadership style to foster team success.
A resident of Hockessin, Delaware, Martin enjoys outdoor activities such as running, biking, and swimming, as well as volunteering with animal rescue organizations. She shares her active lifestyle with her husband, their daughter, and the family’s pets, which include a greyhound, two parakeets, and a fish.
