MALVERN, PA — Penn State University is set to demystify the job application process in the digital age with an enlightening seminar titled “My Career Transitions: Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).” Scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10 am to 12:15 pm, this event promises invaluable insights into the world of ATS, which are utilized by more than 97% of Fortune 500 companies to streamline their hiring processes.

In today’s job market, understanding the intricacies of ATS can significantly enhance a candidate’s chances of landing their dream job. These systems, which employ software to scan and filter resumes based on key skills and job titles, are pivotal in determining which candidates best match a company’s criteria. With over sixty systems in use, and the ever-increasing role of artificial intelligence in enhancing these products, staying informed is more critical than ever.

Led by Cheryl Clark Bonner, Penn State University’s Director of Alumni Career Services, the seminar aims to equip attendees with the knowledge to navigate ATS effectively. Bonner, with over 35 years of experience in the career services field, will cover essential topics such as identifying keywords, crafting result-oriented resumes, and leveraging networking in the job search process. Her expertise, coupled with the resources and support provided by the Penn State Alumni Association, ensures a session filled with actionable advice.

The seminar is hosted by My Career Transitions (MCT), a Chester County-based organization dedicated to assisting professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area through career transitions. Since its establishment in 2005, MCT has supported over 15,000 jobseekers with resources, networking opportunities, and skill-building workshops.

Moreover, attendees have a unique opportunity to win a free professional headshot at Ivory Tree Portraits in Wayne. Lara Aman Mattey, a PSU alum and owner of the studio, is generously offering up to fifty photos on May 15 to MCT participants, emphasizing the importance of current headshots for platforms like LinkedIn.

Don’t miss this chance to gain valuable insights into navigating applicant tracking systems and advancing your career. Whether you’re seeking a new opportunity or aiming to optimize your job search strategy, this seminar is poised to provide the tools and knowledge you need to succeed.
