WEST BRANDYWINE, PA — Residents and staff at Freedom Village at Brandywine turned their enthusiasm for the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff run into a meaningful opportunity to give back, spearheading two impactful charitable campaigns to support disaster relief and fight hunger in the community.
During the NFL playoffs, staff members celebrated their Eagles pride by donating $2 every Friday to wear team apparel to work. This creative initiative raised $500, which was donated to the LeadingAge Disaster Relief Fund to assist those impacted by wildfires in Los Angeles.
Building on that momentum as the Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl, the community introduced the “Soup for the Super Bowl” campaign. Instead of monetary contributions, staff donated canned goods in exchange for the chance to don Eagles gear on Fridays. Their combined efforts resulted in 200 pounds of food donated to the Chester County Food Bank to help address regional food insecurity.
“Giving back is an integral part of our community at Freedom Village,” said Executive Director Danielle Geyer. “This initiative not only strengthened our Eagles pride but also reinforced our commitment to supporting those in need. We are incredibly proud of our residents and staff for their enthusiasm and generosity.”
Through these initiatives, Freedom Village at Brandywine demonstrated how community spirit and philanthropy can make a significant difference, uniting people in a shared effort to uplift others while celebrating a beloved sports team.
