PJM Interconnection Ranked Among Top 100 Adoption-Friendly Companies

PJM Interconnection

VALLEY FORGE, PA — In a recent announcement that is making waves in both the energy sector and adoption circles, Valley Forge-based PJM Interconnection has been listed among the top 100 adoption-friendly companies. This recognition comes from the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, a national nonprofit public charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for children in North America’s foster care systems.

PJM Interconnection, renowned as the grid operator for 13 states and the District of Columbia, clinched the second spot among energy and utility companies. The ranking underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to offering substantial assistance for adoption-related expenses incurred by its full-time employees.

Since 2006, PJM has had a policy in place to reimburse families for many types of expenses related to adopting a child. These include fees, travel, and legal costs, thereby providing significant financial support to employees navigating the adoption process.

“PJM’s commitment toward a culture of caring is fundamental to who we are as an organization, and supporting employees through the process of adoption is an essential part of that commitment,” said Nora Swimm, Sr. Vice President – Corporate Client Services at PJM Interconnection. “We’re grateful to be recognized by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.”

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has been surveying the nation’s employers since 2002 for its ranking of the 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces. These annual surveys assess adoption-friendly corporate policies, including financial reimbursement for the costs of adoption and paid leave for employees.

This accolade for PJM Interconnection is not just a testament to the company’s supportive work environment but also shines a light on their dedication to social responsibility. It underlines the fact that the company goes beyond its core operations to make a meaningful difference in the lives of its employees and the community at large.
