WEST CHESTER, PA — A. Duie Pyle is celebrating a major achievement as its scholarship program will grant over $106,000 to 24 students this year, coinciding with the company’s centennial celebration. Established in 2013 by former president Steve O’Kane and his wife Cheryl, the Eleanor and James Latta Jr. Scholarship Fund was created to honor the second generation of Pyle ownership while supporting employee families’ educational pursuits.

Since its inception, the scholarship fund has awarded more than $460,000, marking a 606% growth. “Our Pyle People and their families are a big reason we are successful as a company,” said Peter Latta, Chairman and CEO. “Through the Latta Scholarship, we’re able to honor our legacy while providing essential support for our employees’ and their families’ educational aspirations.”

Billy Latta, Director of Enterprise Services, echoed this sentiment: “The Latta Scholarship is more than just financial assistance; it’s a commitment to our community’s future. By supporting our employees and their families, we are investing in a stronger, more vibrant community for everyone.”

The scholarships are available for children and stepchildren of qualified Pyle employees enrolled in undergraduate or trade programs. This year, 40 applications were received, with selection based on academic achievement and community service. Angelo Rodriguez, a scholarship recipient, expressed, “Being a recipient of the Latta Scholarship is a tremendous honor and inspires me to strive for excellence.”

Former driver and now frontline leader, Angel Rodriguez, noted, “This scholarship enables our children to realize their aspirations and highlights Pyle’s commitment to enriching the lives of its employees and their families.”

Recipient Sienna DeMedio shared, “The scholarship places great emphasis on personal academic achievement as well as contribution to the community, which motivate me to prioritize these important areas throughout my college career.”
