EXTON, PA — Citadel Credit Union, headquartered in Chester County, Pennsylvania, has officially opened the nomination period for its annual Citadel Heart of Learning Awards program. The nomination window will remain open until January 15, 2024, providing ample opportunity for individuals to nominate teachers who have made a significant impact on their students’ lives.
The Citadel Heart of Learning Awards is a cornerstone initiative of Citadel Credit Union, honoring outstanding teachers across the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery, and Philadelphia. The program recognizes educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels who go beyond their teaching duties to foster a nurturing and inspiring learning environment.
Nomination forms are available on the Citadel Credit Union’s official website, and posters with QR codes linking directly to the form will be distributed in schools across the region. In a nod to the digital age, Citadel is also accepting video nominations via social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook. Participants can tag @citadelcreditunion on TikTok or @CitadelBanking on Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #CitadelHeartofLearning.
The winners of the Citadel Heart of Learning Awards will be announced in May 2024. A total of $60,000 in grants and awards are up for grabs, alongside a heart-shaped, glass-blown trophy that symbolizes the heart and dedication of the winning educators.
Bill Brown, President & CEO of Citadel Credit Union, expressed his enthusiasm for the program. “Recognizing and celebrating educators who make a difference in the lives of young people throughout the Greater Philadelphia area is an honor for us all at Citadel,” he said. “Citadel’s commitment to the community is one of the values that brought me to the organization, and we are thrilled and humbled to give back to these impactful individuals year after year.”
The Citadel Heart of Learning Award, founded 23 years ago in partnership with the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU), has recognized over 400 teachers throughout its history. The award’s prestige is reflected in the thousands of nominations received each year.
Co-founder of the Citadel Heart of Learning Awards, Mike Schnably, highlighted the community involvement the awards inspire, stating, “It’s great to see administrators and entire schools get involved to rally around their teachers. We have so many amazing educators, schools, and districts here in Southeast PA, and we’d like to give them a reason to celebrate.”
