MALVERN, PA — Bermuda College students now have access to industry-leading insurance and risk management education through a new partnership with The Institutes Knowledge Group, the Association of Bermuda Insurers & Reinsurers (ABIR), and Bermuda College. This initiative aims to equip students with critical leadership and technical insurance skills while connecting them with professional networks and career opportunities.

Through The Institutes’ Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®) Collegiate Studies Program, Bermuda College began offering the CPCU 500 Becoming a Leader in Risk Management and Insurance course in the fall of 2024. The program continues this spring with CPCU 520 Meeting Challenges Across Insurance Operations, laying the groundwork for an esteemed professional credential recognized globally in the insurance sector.

The CPCU designation, revered as the gold standard in property-casualty insurance, represents expertise and professionalism essential to leadership roles. Students at Bermuda College not only earn credits toward this prestigious certification but also gain access to a rigorous curriculum, mentorship, and potential career opportunities through ABIR’s member companies.

“This initiative exemplifies the collaborative spirit of The Institutes and our shared dedication to advancing risk management and insurance knowledge,” said Adam Carmichael, CPCU, President of The Institutes Knowledge Group. “Through the CPCU Collegiate Studies, we aim to prepare students for meaningful and fulfilling careers in risk management and insurance.”

Students enrolled in the program also benefit from mentorship and internships coordinated by ABIR, whose members represent Bermuda’s leading insurers and reinsurers. These companies drive global innovation in areas such as catastrophe, climate, and cyber insurance, offering an essential link between academic learning and real-world application.

These courses not only build knowledge but also open doors for internships and career pathways that extend far beyond the classroom.”

With over 110 years of experience in developing professional education programs, The Institutes Knowledge Group brings unmatched expertise to the venture, ensuring students receive top-tier training that prepares them for leadership roles in the global insurance market.
