Barclay Friends Launches $100K Challenge to Complete Memory Care Campaign

Barclay Friends:

WEST CHESTER, PABarclay Friends, a Kendal affiliate renowned for its care of older adults, recently opened its state-of-the-art Goshen Memory Care residence in West Chester. The $3.3 million project was funded through $1.8 million in reserves and a $1.5 million capital campaign.

To complete the campaign, the organization has introduced a $100,000 challenge grant. Three contributors have pledged to match donations dollar-for-dollar, aiming to raise the final $200,000 needed.

The Goshen Memory Care residence offers 24 modern apartments designed to address the growing need for memory care solutions in the community. Developed in response to a market analysis revealing a lack of available resources, this project focuses on individuals experiencing dementia and other memory conditions.

Barclay Friends CEO Maria Santangelo highlighted the importance of the effort. “This challenge grant is an incredible opportunity for the community to come together and make a lasting difference. By supporting the campaign, donors invest in a brighter future for memory care in West Chester.”

The facility prides itself on compassionate care and innovative programming such as the Blooming Minds initiative, which emphasizes person-centered, evidence-based approaches to cognitive challenges. Features like shared living areas, gardens, private spaces, and advanced technologies, including the Magic Table (Tovertafel), enhance engagement and quality of life for residents.

Barclay Friends encourages local businesses, individuals, and philanthropists to help close the remaining funding gap. Donations through the challenge grant will have double the impact, ensuring the longevity of this vital service for generations to come.
